In a war that made history there had to be people behind the chaos. The figures below are the important people of WW II. The second world war involved many counties but the fight was against the axis powers and the allies. The axis powers were Nazi Germany, Japan, and Italy. The Allies power were Great Britain, U.S.A, France, and Soviet Union.
Adolf Hitler - was leader of Germany's Nazi party. He was one of the most powerful and notorious dictators of the 20th century. Hitler believed the Aryan race was superior which led to the 6 million Jewish lives that were taken by the Nazi's. Germany's invasion of Poland led to the outbreak of WW II. As the end of the war came so did his life. He committed suicide in his bunker in April 1945.
Franklin D. Roosevelt - was the 32nd president. His presidential terms lasted from 1934 - 1945. Within these years the U.S went through the Great Depression and WW II. With almost a victory in both Europe and in the Pacific he died on April 12,1945 due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He was followed by his vice president Harry S. Truman.
Joseph Stalin - served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union's Central Committee from 1922 until he died 1953. The Soviet Union played a major role in the defeat of Nazi Germany during World War II.
Winston Churchill - he was the Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1940 to 1955. He led Great Britain through a successful fight against Nazi Germany. He hoped to join the Americans in making a postwar order that limited Soviet leader Joseph Stalin's ability to take over the world.
Benito Mussolini - established the nationalist party commonly known as the Fascist Party. In October he led his new right wing on a march on Rome. Mussolini was appointed prime minister of Italy. In 1936 he joined Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. With the fall of Nazi Germany in April 1945 Mussolini was captured. He was executed by a firing squad and his body was hung by his feet in publish square for all to see.
Dwight Eisenhower - was the 34th president serving only two terms. From 1953 - 1969, but prior to his presidential period he served as a lifelong military man. He was the one who commanded the D-day invasion. In 1942 Eisenhower led U.S. troops to defeat opposing military in North Africa.
Hermann Goering - was a German Military leader who eventually became a prominent leader in the Nazi Party. After WW II Goering was convicted for the role he played in the Nazi Holocaust. His punishment was the death sentence. He was to be hung, but before his execution date he ingested poison.
Harry S. Truman - was the 32nd president of the United States following FDR. Truman only had a high school education. He had only been VP for only 82 days. He lead the US through the end of WW II and the beginning of the Cold War. As president he was also commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the United Sates.
